Hello everyone! It’s Tara from Suburble with a fun thrifted home decor project that takes no time at all!

Last Christmas, we were having a Handmade or Thrifted Christmas on my family’s side. Nothing could be brand new – it had to be handmade or used. Under the tree, I found an old jewelry box with a bunch of thrifted jewelry from my sister. I’ve taken apart some of the pieces and created upcycled pieces. I’ve worn some of it as-is, and now I’ve created home decor

To make thrifted jewelry embroidery hoop wreaths, you will need:

  • Brooches of your choosing (or pendants would work too)
  • Embroidery hoops of varying sizes
  • Hot glue gun and glue

Do you remember when brooches were “back in”? I wore one nearly every day on a blazer or a scarf. I held onto this little cache of gold brooches waiting for a reason to get crafty with them. And then I spotted the embroidery hoops.

I have a big pile of embroidery hoops that I’ve been using for all sorts of wall art. But I hadn’t yet tried the embroidery hoop wreath.

I dug through the pile of jewelry and picked out these floral-themed brooches.

It’s as simple as fiddling around with a design you like, and then glueing the brooches down. I found that applying the glue to the brooches instead of the embroidery hoop worked the best and had the least amount of glue clumps.

You may have to clip off the brooch backs with wire cutters, if the fit isn’t working for you.

And then you’re ready to hang them on the wall! It’s amazing how quickly these little wall hangings come together, but bring such a great impact.

I can imagine how lovely this would be with bright and colourful Christmas brooches, or perhaps a collection of blues and greens for a summer wreath? When you’re scouring the aisles of garage sales and thrift stores, wander over to the thrifted jewelry and think about decorating the walls instead of yourself!

You may be surprised by the treasures you find!
