Book Review: Quiet Book Patterns (and 3 to give away!!)…CLOSED

If you noticed my site was down yesterday, while trying to access my newest post (side note: all those deals are still on sale throughout today!!)……sorry about that.  There were a few problems with the server.  Darn technology!  I’m just grateful it’s back up though.  I never know how much I should freak out in those situations…..just glad it didn’t last too long.  Whew!

. . . . .

I have something so fun to share today.  And it was created from that sweet gal Amy, over at Serving Pink Lemonade.  She has published her very own book……..and it’s DARLING!  I know a lot of time and work (and then re-working) went into this book of yours, so consider yourself high-fived/hugged/loved on!  Great work Amy……so SO proud of you!

Amy compiled a collection of 25 Quiet Book Patterns, that you can easily construct yourself.  (Or give as a gift to a mom with young kiddos, accompanied with a few supplies. So fun!

IMG_9205

**Just tuck your little book in your diaper bag, purse, carry-on luggage……and then pull out at the Dr’s office, the plane, at church, while shopping, etc.  These little quiet books are interactive and fun for busy little minds!

The pages of this book are clean and bright, the instructions are so clear, and her extra tips are perfectly placed throughout the book.

And the ideas in the book are so appropriate for curious little fingers……..and are perfectly engaging.

And yeah, maybe you could throw a little Quiet Book together yourself…..but we all know it’s easier when it’s all done for you with pictures, measurements, templates, extra tips, etc.

IMG_9165

Each of her projects even includes a little blurb about what concept of learning is being taught.

IMG_9168

Plus, a few tips to encourage further learning and exploration.

IMG_9169

What’s EXTRA GREAT……is that you can either use the templates in the back of the book or you can open up the full sized images from the included CD and print them off that way.

I’m currently making a book for Little Miss Chloe…..but decided to make each of my background pages with Faux Leather (vinyl) that I have in a variety of colors.  I have a ton of this stuff and am just trying to use it up…….and it worked great (you know, in case you have an excessive of the same stuff, too).  All of the other pieces I made with felt, as directed in the book.

With this page, Chloe can match up the socks….

IMG_9207

…..or put them in the laundry basket.  Super cute!

IMG_9231

She caught on quickly.

And, well………she got a kick out of it!  And did it again, and again, AND again!

Such a great book Amy!  I could hardly fight off my older kids from taking a turn, while trying to show it to Chloe.  Such great and captivating concepts throughout.  Very well done!! :)

And thanks so much for sharing……can’t wait to complete Chloe’s book!

Amy’s book is available through Amazon in paperback and Kindle format.  So Cool!

. . . . .

Oh wait, there’s more!  Amy has offered to give away 3 copies of her book to 3 different readers.  Yay!!

Would love to receive one of these. I would make my books for my two girls (age 3 years and younger is 10 months), for my neice (age5), and to give to the ER waiting room to pass out to parents of busy toddlers waiting on doctors to help their family. I have given coloring books the last couple of times we had to visit due to my husband’s ongoing disorder. I know it is so tough on the parents in the waiting room because sometimes the doctors don’t decide whether they are going to keep a patient or not until like 2 AM. Sorry to ramble. This is a great giveaway and I LOVE your site :)

My two-year-old daughter likes to spin while the rest of the family is sitting quietly for Family Home Evening. She spins and spins and spins — into the piano, into the wall, down the 2 steps from our living room to the front door, into the other kids. You get the idea. The other kids get incredibly distracted and I try to keep a straight face while telling them to ignore her, but she’s pretty hard to ignore. We’ve tried having her color, do puzzles, sit on our laps, etc. Most weeks we put up with it as long as we can and then just put her to bed early. But maybe a fun new quiet book would be interesting enough to keep her still and quiet for a few minutes. The book looks super cute!

We hand out coloring sheets now, but I think this would be so much cooler than an cooler sheet. I would only have to make after my grandsons, around 12 more. I know the ladies of the church would love to help in this project.

I would love to make a quiet book because I have 2 granddaughters aged 3 and 2 this month, that I daycare and I think this would be easy to make for them and would help them in learning concepts, ideas and get them ready for school. This way I would be teaching them and not just babysitting. I have tried to do things to encourage learning but this idea seems amazing. They could take it with them everywhere and it would entertain, educate and be fun for them. Thanks so much for sharing. [email protected]
