Quick Gift: SNOWMAN CANDY JAR…plus FREE printable!

Last Minute Leslie………Procrastinator Patty……….Super Slow Sally.

Pick a name, any name……and give it to me.  Because yeah, it’s a little last minute.  But hey, there’s gotta be a few others who are trying to think of something fun and quick to pass around to neighbors, a teacher, a co-worker, a sweet friend, etc.  Well, you’re in luck.  Because these are QUICK! :)

Toss some candy in a jar, add a little snowman love, and let others know you are thinking about them during this holiday season!

These little snowmen faces are what makes your gift more than just a bag of candy!  I used buttons for the face (I bought a whole bag of assorted buttons at Hobby Lobby for $3, with a coupon…..and it was enough for 6 snowmen)……but you could always create the eyes and mouth out of black felt.

Now, fill with your (or the recipient’s) favorite candy………..or place a stack of your signature homemade cookies inside.  Or jelly!  Or salsa!  Or homemade apple pie filling!  Whatever you’d like share. :)

Then, add a little tag…

Need some tags??  I’ve included some down below…..but left off our name. Don’t worry, you don’t have to give the “Johnston Family” the credit for your gift! ;)

And each little snow hat is filled with a little batting to fluff it out…..and is cinched off with some twine.

Sweet little snowmen……you sure happy up these plain jars!

Now, go on…….make a few little Snowmen Jars and share your love!

Would you like to make some too?

I bought pint sized canning jars.  You could use smaller…….or buy the quart sized.  But just remember, if you go big……you have to fill those suckers with a quart of goodies! :)

For the hats, I needed circles that were about 14 inches across (diameter).  Using a bowl is a great template…..so look for one that’s about 14 inches across.  This bowl was about 12…..so I had to add about an inch on both sides.  And then I drew a ton more circles on the wrong side of my fabric and cut them all out.

Now, take the ring off the jar…..but not the flat lid.

Then, place your fabric circle on top of the jar (right side of the fabric facing DOWN) and place the center of your circle on the center of the jar lid.  Hold the fabric down tight and screw the lid on over the fabric.

Place hot glue around the inner edge of the ring……gluing the lid to the fabric.

Then, place a line of glue (a few inches at a time) around the lower edge of the ring.

Pull the fabric straight up and tight…….and then press the fabric into the line of glue.  Add a few more inches of glue and keep repeating, all the way around the lid.

Then, place a blob of batting (I’m not sure of how to tell you an exact amount) on top of the lid…..

…..and then gather the fabric up around it.  (If your hat isn’t filling out very well, add more batting.  If it’s too full and you can’t close the fabric around it, you have too much.)  Then tie a piece of twine around the fabric nice and tight.  Then pull on your fabric edges and even out the gathers and the shape of the hat.  Trim any uneven fabric edges, if needed.

Then, glue your eyes on, cut out a triangle from some orange felt and glue it in place, and then glue the little mouth buttons in place.

Fill your jar with candy.

Now, make your own tag…….or print off some of these….

And then hole punch your tag and tie it onto the twine.

Done. :)

Enjoy!
