Craft Room, Part 3 (dry erase picture frame)
Do you remember this old post?
(Sorry, not the best color, not the best picture…..and not my favorite framed dry erase board. But it worked.)
I decided to find a new picture frame and make a new one.
Mostly because I am a note and list person.
I need a visual of what I need to do, what I need to buy, a priority list of what needs to get done first, etc.
And this dry erase board is going to help me with that.
But for crafts only. Perfect.
With nice roughed up edges.
That I made by spray painting the brown picture frame white, then this aqua color, letting dry completely in between and after the layers of paint, and then roughing up the edges with sand paper.
But this 20 x 24 inch dry erase board offers plenty of space for my lists…
And keeps my dry erase marker close by…..with a touch of velcro.
Some of that peel and stick velcro.
So quick and simple.
**And remember to check out this old tutorial to help you with the other details. (This is a picture frame with a piece of fabric behind the glass. You write directly on the glass…..and that acts as your dry erase board. Works like a charm.)
What a nice bright and cheery addition to the craft room.
And yes, I will be sharing pictures of the entire craft room when this is all done. Just for those of you who asked and are curious. I understand. It’s kinda fun to see where other people work.
Until then….
Oh, and it’s Friday.
Enjoy that weekend of yours. :)

I have to know where you got the paper for your background. My kitchen is teal with green accents and it would match PERFECT!

The background is not paper, it's actually fabric from Laura Gunn. Hope that helps!
It is so adorable! I love it! Neat idea to put the fabric behind it!
Very cool! What a great way to keep track of to do items!
So bright and cheery, perfect for a craft room!
This idea is awesome. I love having a dry erase board in the kitchen but they are not eye apealling like a picture frame. Clever :)

I LOVE this! I've been wanting to put up a dry erase board in my kitchen, but hate the look of those white plastic ones from Target. This is awesome! I can't wait to try it out.

I love it. The colors are so fun!
LOVE it. NEED it. Gotta go make it! :) Thanks!
Hello sweet Ashley – I'm a new follower to your fabulous blog. I love this dry erase board idea! May I ask what aqua color you used and how many coats? I would love to make one using that same shade.
Thank you for the inspiration!
Blessings,

Sure, Marie! The color of the paint on the dry erase board frame is Calypso Sky by Folk Art…Shiny. It's an acrylic paint I found at Wal-Mart. (You know, those little bottles you find in the craft section.) And I used about 2 coats. Anyway, good luck and let me know how it turns out for you! :)
Ashley
I've been wanting to make one for some time now, so thanks for the reminder/inspiration! If you like making notes on it, another cute idea is- My husband and I occasionally write little love notes to each other on the bathroom mirror. I especially love it when he writes something before leaving for drill so I get to see it after I get home and about the time I start to miss him. :) Works just like glass/dry erase board!
love it, just pinned it to my diy board!
Have you ever seen something so pretty your eyes almost tear up? That just happened!! This is the most beautiful thing because of the simplicity of it! The colors are so pretty! I am going straight to the thrift shop as soon as it opens up today to pick up some frames. I have an abundance of fabric I can use and a box full of spray paint! I am going to make a few as presents for co-workers and other moms I know. Moms ALWAYS have lists!! Thank you so much for sharing!
