Hello Make It and Love It readers! I am so excited to be sharing this adorable birthday gift bag with you today. If you remember my June post, I shared a bag tutorial very similar to this one using fabric transfer sheets.

I really loved the finished product, and so I decided to make another similar bag with the left over materials. These canvas birthday bags are the perfect accessory for a birthday gift.

These birthday bags are perfect for any gift and the design works well for any age group. I filled mine with some fun pink beauty products I had on hand but you can fill them with whatever you want.

The little bags, like I made, would be adorable with some tissue paper and a gift card. You could also make a bigger bag and use it in place of a normal gift bag.

Would you believe me if I told you these bags were incredibly easy to make? Well, guess what? They are! I used a fabric transfer sheet to iron the design directly onto the bag. Not only does this make the process extremely simple, but all the materials you need are a bag, iron, and transfer sheet.

MATERIALS:

  • Small Canvas Bag
  • Iron-on transfer sheet with design printed on it (find my design, available for free download, at the end of this post)
  • Iron
  • printer

DIRECTIONS:

  • First, print your design onto the transfer sheet. Make sure the design is printed in the mirror image of what you want it to be. This way, when you iron the design on it will read correctly.

  • Next, cut out the design. Make sure to round the corners so that the design adheres to the bag correctly.

  • Next, place the designs face-down onto the bag. Then iron the design onto the bag following the directions on your iron on transfer package. Make sure to press down on all areas of the design so that it transfers completely to the bag.

  • Now, remove the paper backing from the bag, your design should stick on the bag. Fill your bag with goodies and that’s it!
