Zipper Bedding for my kids’ beds…..best solution EVER!!

So, I recently shared with you my kids’ bedrooms….and how I just finished decorating our Shared Girls Bedroom and our Shared Boys Bedroom.  (Thanks for all the love, by the way!)  I couldn’t be more pleased with how those turned out…and am so happy they’re done! :) The goal for both rooms was to make it a little easier to have 2 kids in one room, who share the space.  So I tried coming up with good storage solutions and ways to keep both kids in the room happy, even though they are different ages and have different interests.  But the one thing that I wanted more than anything…..was to find a way to help my kiddos keep their brand new rooms CLEAN!  (I know…..is that even possible? Ha!)

I do have to say, my absolute FAVORITE THING that I did to improve their rooms though, is their bedding.  I feel like the bed in a room is the focal point and where your eye is drawn……so even if the room is a mess but the bed is made, the room looks so much neater than it really is! And let me tell you, I found the COOLEST bedding in the whole world of bedding options, that has changed the cleanliness of our kids’ rooms!  (And I know, that sounds overly dramatic, but I’m not even one bit joking.)

I was going to share more about their bedding when I first shared all the info about their rooms…..but I knew I needed to include lots of extra pictures and turn this into its own post….because it really is THAT cool!  This Beddy’s Zipper Bedding has transformed both the boys’ bedroom and the girls’ bedroom into tidy rooms, that always have perfectly made beds!  It’s magic, I tell ya!

Okay, let me back up a little bit.  I’ve been terrible at forcing my kids to make their beds every day.  Because even when they do, it’s kind of a slop-fest and still makes me cringe when I walk by.  So I have never really gotten into the routine of having them make their beds each morning.  And let’s be real…..I have zero desire (or maybe my own self discipline?) to go and make all of their beds for them, so we’ve just had disheveled beds for years.  (Except on Saturdays, which is chore day, and when their rooms are completely cleaned out, vacuumed, and beds made correctly.)

Anyway, then my little life changed when I watched a video about how Beddy’s Zipper Bedding worked…

I immediately started browsing all the different colors and styles and fell in LOVE because not only is the concept genius, but they had really cool styles and fabric patterns.  And I won’t lie, I was concerned about the price at first.  So, I tossed the idea around and around but finally decided that the price of this one bedding set replaces buying a standard fitted sheet, top sheet, quilt, and then pillow cases.  PLUS, buying this set would hopefully fix the sloppy bed problem we’ve had for YEARS….and that’s priceless!  So, I decided to put 4 bedding sets in my cart and almost hit “purchase”.  But then I decided, you know, what if I contact Beddy’s and see if they’d be willing to send me some bedding sets to try out, to be sure they’d be as amazing as I had imagined in my head, and then if I really liked them…..I would share here with you guys.  I made it very clear though, that if I didn’t really care for them or thought the value wasn’t great, I wasn’t going to share them.

But once we put them on the kids’ beds, OH MY GOSH, you guys……game changer!  And this is coming from a mom who has always wanted to be super on top of getting her kids to make their beds and keeping their rooms clean, etc…..but has been lousy at making that happen.  However, we’ve been using these Beddy’s sets for over a month now and I can’t even think of a day that my kids’ beds haven’t been made.  Not even one single day!!!  And not only are they made, they look super tidy and make the entire room looks so crisp and clean!  And for this mom…..that’s a HUGE DEAL!!!!  (I kinda want to write this entire last paragraph in all caps so you know how excited I really am!)

Okay, enough blabbing….let me show you in pictures how these work (in case the video wasn’t enough).  Like shown in the video above, the entire set is all one attached piece, and you stretch the edges around your mattress just like a fitted sheet.  Then, you unzip the top quilt section along either side…….

…….and then hop right inside!  Now, you can either zip it up snug right around you, or there are these super soft minky fabric panels that are attached to both sides, extending the quilt out so it drapes down along along both sides, giving you more coverage.  But those minky panels also help to cover up the zipper, so you won’t feel it while sleeping.

That same minky fabric is also along the back side of the top quilt section….making this a crazy comfy quilt (which is Connor’s favorite thing about the whole thing)!!

And then in the morning when you get out of bed, you just simply tuck the side panels inside…..

…..and then zip it closed!!  Oh, and before I forget, those zippers are super beefy and slide like butter!!!  Beddy’s didn’t skimp on the zippers at all, and are what make this bedding so easy to use!

And in case you’re wondering if it really is that easy for smaller children to use, Oliver is 2 1/2 and slides those zippers open and closed with no trouble at all!  (In fact, he thinks the zippers are a game and I actually had to safety pin the zipper closed about halfway down the side of the bed, to help train him to stop unzipping it all the way.  But before, when we were using standard blankets, he would just throw the blanket off the bed and completely un-make the bed in 2 seconds flat.  Re-zipping the blanket back on only takes a few seconds to fix so it’s not that big of a deal, but now that I have added the safety pin, he has stopped playing with it all together. It’s a 2 year old thing, I guess!)

But I really love how easy those zippers are to use….because it makes the whole process so much easier, without getting caught on the fabric or getting jammed up, etc.

And once you unzip, you can hop right into bed!  (And then “fake” sleep like Oliver is doing for me….snuggling his favorite stuffed animal that he sleeps with every night, named “Bacon”!)

Ha…..this kid cracks me up!

And these 2 boys are having the best time sharing a room together…..and I’m loving that since having their room newly decorated, it has been staying so clean and tidy!  (And I swear it all starts with those beds being zipped up and “made”, every single day!)

And in the room next door, the same magic is happening in the girls room!  Here’s Chloe, un-zipping the top section of the quilt, revealing the sheet that’s attached beneath.

Then, she releases the side minky fabric panels…and snuggles down inside! Easy as that! :)

And then yep, even this 6 year old girl can jump out of bed each morning, tuck in the side panels…..and zip it closed!

I think I’m most excited that I don’t even have to be in the room to supervise this chore anymore.  I can ask from the other room, “hey Chloe, did you make your bed?” and if she hasn’t, she can run back into her room and hurry and zip it closed.  Done!  (I’m going to spare you all of the details, but asking this particular child to make her bed before using this Beddy’s set was painful. Ugggh…the dramatics it would cause. Ha!)  And now that it’s becoming a habit for these kiddos, I have to remind less and less!)

And probably the biggest fan of this whole Beddy’s bedding set, is my oldest, Ellie!  She thinks it’s so cool!!!!  (Because she was the one who probably tried the hardest to make her bed properly, but it was always so hard to get everything even and tucked in correctly, etc.)  But she also pointed out right away how much easier this would have been to have during all those years that she was up on the top bunk of the bunk beds.  Yep, that would have saved me a whole lot of headache seeing those sloppily-made bunk beds in the girls room and getting frustrated with them.  Ugggggh.

But here you can see that the top quilt section un-zips on both sizes….and can actually detaches completely at the very bottom, in case you have a taller teenager who likes their feet out and free!

Then you just flop the quilt back on top of the sheet, zip both sides closed…..and voila, done!!

I do think that completely re-doing their room was a good time to set some new “keeping the room clean” rules, since everything was so fresh and new.  But the hardest part of keeping a room tidy, tends to be making the bed, especially for younger kids.  So, now that these Beddy’s sets have made that so easy….the rest has just kinda fallen into place.  Even for these 2 mess makers! ;)

Anyway, I have been so excited to not only share my kids’ bedrooms…..but I kinda felt like I was holding in a secret that I really needed to share about their beds.  So, if any of you are wanna-be tidy moms/dads (like me!), who would really like a way to make bed-making a little less painful, you’ve got to give these a try.  (But for those of you who are already winning at making your kids keep their rooms tidy and beds made Every. Single. Day. —-high fives to you!!!!)

I really hope this helps some of you though and that you’ll give it a try! :)

P.S. I just realized, Beddy’s is having a BOGO 50% off sale for Memorial Day that ends today!  (But if you’re too late for that sale, I have noticed they are running sales all the time.  So either wait for one, or google a coupon code and maybe there’s one floating around!)

P.P.S. This post wasn’t sponsored, but I was sent bedding sets at no cost to test out.  However, like I mentioned above, I was in no way obligated to share.  But from one mom to another….I just HAD TO!! :)
