Eiffel Tower Silhouette — Pebble Display

Great news.

This month’s Michaels Makers challenge is all about PARIS….but the really cool part, is that Michael’s is inviting all of YOU to participate too!  And what’s in it for you???  A trip for 2 to Paris!!!  The trip will include hotel and airfare, 1,000 euros to spend, a VIP tour of the Louvre, private classes including sketching, floral arranging, baking and more!  Okay — how AMAZING WOULD THAT BE!!!!

And just to get you thinking, your project could include any type of art, floral, baking or paper crafting.  Why not give it a try……because if nothing else, you’ll end up with something lovely to enjoy in your home!

So, thinking along those Parisian lines, I decided to create a large Eiffel Tower Display, from PEBBLES!

The pebbles really give such a cool 3D texture to the display, that pop right off the canvas. (And nope, you’re not going crazy, I used the same ones to create the Black Pebble Trivets a couple months ago.)

Then I added a mini dress form and some sweet spring flowers, to really happy up the whole Parisian display!  Mmmmm….spring sounds so perfect right now.  And so does a trip to Paris!  My word, wouldn’t that be incredible?!!

Here’s a bit more info about how to enter:

And if you’d like to create your own Eiffel Tower Silhouette, here’s how —

Supplies:

  • Frame (any size)
  • Flat Canvas that fits the opening of the frame
  • Black pebbles (found in the flower arranging area)
  • Mod Podge

Sketch out (or print from the computer) your own Eiffel Tower silhouette.  (And because this is a silhouette and you’re just going for a basic outline, you don’t need to include every last detail.  And that’s okay.)  Trace your tower onto your canvas, centering it just how you’d like it.

Then, outline your Eiffel Tower with pebbles, before gluing anything down.

Then, take a few pebbles away at a time, and place the glue directly onto the canvas and then place the pebbles on top……

…..until all of the pebbles are glued down to the outline of the tower.

Then, begin filling in the shape of the tower with more glue and pebbles.

Until the entire shape is filled in with pebbles.

Let dry completely (don’t worry, the Mod Podge will turn completely clear and you won’t notice it) and then place into your frame.

And enjoy your little slice of Paris!

I must win this. It is not optional. I was looking for the terms and conditions on their website and I can’t find it anywhere. Any ideas?
