Have you heard that Silhouette (my craft cutter of choice) has released a brand new craft cutter? It’s this sweet little Silhouette Portrait. Which is smaller, more compact, less expensive (wahoo!)……but is still just as rockin’ cool as the Silhouette Cameo.
But wait, are you worried that you just bought a Cameo…..and now there’s a new Silhouette? No worries, so was my sister (right, Robin?). She panicked for 5 seconds, that she would now need the newest model. I told her not so sweat it. It’s basically the same machine…..but smaller. The Portrait is perfect for those who want something easier to take with them, smaller to fit on the crafting table, or who have been waiting for a less expensive version. The portrait doesn’t have exactly the same features……but almost. Take a look:
And nope, the Silhouette Portrait doesn’t use any of those pesky cartridges and yep, you can still use your own fonts, design your own images, or purchase a single design at a time if you’d like to (usually for about $0.99). And wouldn’t you know it……’tis the season to be putting my Silhouette cutter into over drive. There are decorations to make and gifts to dream up. So I have given the little Portrait the front seat……..and she’s just as dreamy. (I’ll show you a little something tomorrow.)

If you have never used one…..you probably should. But beware, once you start using it, it’s kind of addicting. I found that out this morning when it had been a few months since using my Silhouette. Now, I have several projects lined up. Ack!!! :)

As a lifelong crafter who has never owned a cutter (waiting for the right machine at the right price), I would be thrilled to own this baby! All these Silhouette giveaways make me think that my chances are winning is greater–although it probably just means more people enter! Anyway, I don’t have any sort of fancy cutter at all–Cricut, Silhouette, etc. I originally thought they were scrapbooking sorts of machines, and since I’m not a scrapbooker, they seemed awfully expensive. But you and other bloggers have demonstrated some pretty clever and unexpected ways to use it–like cutting fabric or just cutting something to use as a stencil. So now I can see lots of ways that this little machine would give me a little more confidence to complete a crafty project, especially since it would cut down on time and produce a neat, clear image that I couldn’t do by hand. Being a teacher, we are limited on time, and it sure would be a great thing to have. I could spend time with the family while making things for school…and of course making things for home, too. :)

This is SO exciting…a chance to win the new portrait! I have the SD and love using it! I have never been a very creative person, but I do enjoy doing creative things. They usually take me a bit longer to do because I have to brainstorm and plan for awhile before doing it. I had our first child last year and really started getting into “crafty” things more and my sister had told me about this cool toy. I just had our second child last week and have quit working full-time. Not that I have more time on my hands with two kids, but my life as a mother has become more enjoyable and adventurous. And I LOVE making stuff for my kids. I would love to have a Silhouette to make my “craftiness” a little easier…and way more fun!
