Have you heard that Silhouette (my craft cutter of choice) has released a brand new craft cutter? It’s this sweet little Silhouette Portrait. Which is smaller, more compact, less expensive (wahoo!)……but is still just as rockin’ cool as the Silhouette Cameo.
But wait, are you worried that you just bought a Cameo…..and now there’s a new Silhouette? No worries, so was my sister (right, Robin?). She panicked for 5 seconds, that she would now need the newest model. I told her not so sweat it. It’s basically the same machine…..but smaller. The Portrait is perfect for those who want something easier to take with them, smaller to fit on the crafting table, or who have been waiting for a less expensive version. The portrait doesn’t have exactly the same features……but almost. Take a look:
And nope, the Silhouette Portrait doesn’t use any of those pesky cartridges and yep, you can still use your own fonts, design your own images, or purchase a single design at a time if you’d like to (usually for about $0.99). And wouldn’t you know it……’tis the season to be putting my Silhouette cutter into over drive. There are decorations to make and gifts to dream up. So I have given the little Portrait the front seat……..and she’s just as dreamy. (I’ll show you a little something tomorrow.)

If you have never used one…..you probably should. But beware, once you start using it, it’s kind of addicting. I found that out this morning when it had been a few months since using my Silhouette. Now, I have several projects lined up. Ack!!! :)

My 6 year old son is VERY picky about his t-shirts. He only likes very specific graphics and the fabric and size have to be just right. I have given up buying him shirts and instead we work together to make freezer paper templates and print whatever he likes on soft shirts. Oh, man! I spend sooo much time trying to design and cut out cute things for cards and scrapbook pages {and a zillion other things}. So, your contest rules said you had to be a US citizen, which I definitely am, but I live in Taiwan. So technically it doesn’t say I can’t enter, but I guess I would understand if what you meant was a U.S citizen AND U.S. resident. But just in case!! I would use this sweet machine to cute my own shapes for my mixed media collages. I would also use it for seasonal decor and games for my 4 daughters. The fact I could use my own artwork and fonts makes me soooo happy! Thanks for the chance to win!

I would love to be able to cut vinal! I have two projects bookmarked, a whale that covers three canvases and writing your last name in a scripty vinal over as many canvases as it takes and painting just doesn’t have the same effect!

I would love that slim Silhouette at my house to cut all the things I’ve been dreaming of. Things like vinyl letters to label jars and toy bins, cards for friends, and try out the fabric tools. I had the SD which my child ( who will remain nameless) broke. I was devistated. My favorite thing to make with it was t-shirts for the scouts. They would chooses shape and I would cut it and their troop number out in freezer paper. I taught them how to iron it on and paint their shirts. It’s rewarding to see them out doing service projects wearing shirts that I helped them make.

Hi, I have always wanted a Silhouette. So many great things can be made using this machine. Love to make onesies, t shirts, pillows, banners and all sorts of sewing projects. My daughter and I love to make crafts together to give away, enjoy for ourselves and to sell at craft fairs. It would be so awesome to have this machine.
