I need help making my outdoor cushions. The square box with the zipper and flap over the zipper to cover it. Have all my material but afraid to start cutting out. Even have all cushions and afraid to cut them. First question to cut padding. Do I cut them exact size or larger than finished pad.

You should cut the fabric to allow for your seam allowances/stitching line. In most cases working with cushions as you describe, the seam allowance can range from 1/2″ to 5/8″ provided you are making them as a box style which will require an inset around all four sides. (The inset will also require a seam allowance.) In event you are making a ‘wrap around style’ then you will have to include the depth of your cushion pads/foam and still add the additional seam allowance/stitching lines prior to cutting your fabric out. Hope this helps. -Brenda-
