Just a few thoughts……Wanna Meet Up (in Colorado)???
First of all………..anyone who hasn’t already, be sure to enter the Hellmann’s/BlogHer giveaway here for $100 to cooking.com. (This giveaway isn’t very full…..so your chances are lookin’ good!) You could use that gift card on yourself or for Christmas gifts. Who doesn’t like a pot, pan, or kitchen gadget of some kind?!!
. . . . .
Okay, this is kind of random but I keep hearing more and more of you are from Colorado. In fact I just met the cutest girl with darling children on Sunday who was visiting my church and who also knows about this crazy Make It and Love It blog……….and then I didn’t even catch her name. Ack! (Hi again!! And sorry. Next time we’ll have to run out to the parking lot and chat. It’s much quieter out there! Ha.) Anyway, it just reminded me that there are lots of you readers here in this area. Why in the world do you not live in my neighborhood?!!
Anyway, I should have done this while in GA (so sorry my Georgia friends) but does anyone want to meet up in the Denver, Colorado area? (Yeah, that’s the U.S……..but if any of you want to fly in from overseas, you are more than welcome to. But I can’t promise that this would be worth the airfare. Ha.) Maybe in a couple months or so?
The end of January? Maybe February? I really wanted to do something in December……but there is just so much holiday stuff going on, it’s just too busy of a month. And, I don’t actually live in Denver but I’m willing to drive.
This is so informal and nothing is actually planned. I just keep thinking I would love to meet up with some of you that live near me. And I don’t know……….make something, talk about making something, or pretend we’re going to make something and just chat. Whatever works.
And hey, if only one of you were available, it would be worth the drive. I just thought it would fun to do a little meet up.
But before I go any further, is anyone interested? I can’t guarantee sparklers or fancy decorations……..and I promise you it won’t look like this:
(But aren’t those flowers gorgeous?!)
…….but I just thought it would be a good excuse to meet other semi-local readers/crafters (and please, if you don’t actually craft and just read the blog for fun……I would totally love to chat with you as well). And then some of you could meet each other too…….and hold your own little chatty/craft groups. Hmmmm…….thoughts?
And as long as I’m asking questions:
- Would you like to make something?
- Have a Q&A? (I have all sorts of secrets…..okay, not really.)
- Talk about project fails? (I have plenty)
- Have a fabric/craft supply exchange?
- Share sewing traditions? Or favorite sewing supplies?
- Eat treats? (sorry, but this one is a must!!)
- Meet at some swank restaurant and just eat and gab?
- Compare shoe sizes? Toe nail polish? Ummm…..favorite dish soap?
Okay, and a few bigger questions:
- Does anyone know of a good gathering place in Denver, CO? Maybe a reception hall, a conference room, a, uh, …..I don’t know. A really big bathroom lobby? ;)
- Does anyone own such a venue? (let me know your prices)
- Or would most of you just prefer meeting at a restaurant?
- And how is the end of January looking? Or February?
- Does anyone have an opinion on a weekend or a weeknight? (I’m thinking a Saturday…)
Anyway, am I the only one who wants to see who else is in the area? (And those of you out-of-towners? Maybe in a year from now, we could do something fun like this in Dallas or LA or Boston. I don’t know. We can dream, right?
I know this is random and totally unplanned……but I am the best un-planned party thrower. Ever. ;) They are the least stressful, right? Let me know if you’re interested or potentially interested. This could be fun!
**And please remember that there will be no hand sewn appliqued table cloths, triple dipped homemade chocolate truffles, or fancy bunting with everyone’s name on it.
Key words: Low Key.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
(I have a bathroom to clean and a sick little one to tend to who will be waking up from his nap soon. You?)
Ashley

I’d love to meet up, and also live in the springs. By the way, do you have your Chrstmas tree yet? If you drive up to Woodland Park, you can cut your own for about 20 bucks. Fun!
Oh, that’s sounds like fun! And cheap. Thanks!
Man, I wish I lived in Colorado. I would totally come. :) I vote Seattle next!
I agree! Seattle!
I have a sister near Seattle…..this is a great option! :)
I also would definitly come if it were somewhere closer..like maybe CANADA haha :p
Jeeze I just wanna meet up lol. I think going to the mall or get a bite to eat would be awesome. You know I’m down!
Totally!!! Fabulous idea. I live in Westminster so that would be awesome!!! I’m in as long as those treats are coming! :)
I’m north of Denver by about 90 minutes, but I’d love to come! Crafty ladies on the coasts and in Utah always get meet-ups, so it would be awesome to have one in Colorado. I think making something would be a lot of fun and a swap even more fun. I’m open to anything.
Being all the way over in Idaho Falls, I’m thinking I won’t make it this time around. :) BUT, should you do it in a year again or if for some random and completely unexpected reason I happen to be in CO this coming Jan/Feb, I would LOVE this! It would be such a fun time. And if you are able to pull it together in a couple months, PLEASE blog about it! Those of us who aren’t able to make it this time around would sure love to be part of the fun, even if only through blogosphere space. :)
Idaho Falls here too- if you ever are in this direction I would totally meet up
Oh my gosh! You have to do this again later in the year! We’re moving out to Fort Collins in June and that would be so much fun!
I love fort Collins!!!! It’s amazing! I wish I lived there lol
I would LOVE some crafty fun time! I live in Fruita– about 4 hours away but I would totally drive over the mtns. for some inspiration!
I won’t be making it to Colorado – but would LOVE an event like this in St. Louis!
Yay for st Louis! My vote is for STL next year! ;)
St. Louis would be great! Get me a babysitter and I’m there with a couple of crafty friends!
I just moved from Colorado to St. Louis so darn my luck but one day I will be back to the beautiful Rockies and would totally go for this!
Day is better so I can leave the little ones with my grandma. I don’t have much else to add except I am SUPER EXCITED to hang with some crafty ladies :)
Hey! This is such a good idea. I just moved to Denver and so it would be really great to get together with some fellow mamas, crafters, or just girls! I live in the surroundings of denver, so I would totally be down. I grew up in Denver and just moved back, so I know a few things and places. We should talk….ill hit you up on FB!
I’m in Santa Fe, NM, about 5 hours from Denver… I would definitely consider coming!! I can just let my husband know that I’m not the babysitter anymore!! ;)
That would be so awesome to do some kind of get together. I would love a make it- take it kind of event. I am in the Parker/Aurora area. It would be great to have a crafty kind of mini-getaway.
I’m in the same area! This would be so fun! I’m not a wife or mother but share a passion for crafting (and blogging)
I’m about an hour north of Denver, so it sounds fun. I would have to see when it get closer!
Oh, and regarding what I would like to do…. ANYTHING! Making a simple crafty thing would be fun, but so would eating/snacking/chatting/relaxing!
If you want to drive over to Grand Junction, the Two Rivers Winery is fabulous and there are 10 rooms available to rent. And then I could come!! :-)
I just moved to Grand Junction in October! Are there any local groups here?????
not in the area…but it sounds like too much fun. depending on the whens and wheres i would definitely look into making the trip.
Me! Me! Me! I live in SE Aurora, love your blog and would totally be up for some crafting. Some of my favorite tutorials were the flip flop series, ruffle dress and little boy jeans. Keep me posted on what you decide.
That would be super fun! I live in Denver, around the DTC area (think south-central I-25 corridor). My vote is FOOD. Like a restaurant. Hacienda Colorado in Parker (I-25 and Lincoln) has a group room that the LDS Business Network uses every month. It can fit quite a few people.
Good to know, thank you! :)
Sounds fabulous! I’m in the Boulder area, so an easy drive to Denver for me!
I would love to come and might be able to pull it off…I live down by Cortez area.
Me! When you said wanna meet at the IKEA in a previous post I was bummed that you were joking (or so I thought) and you wouldn’t want to meet up with your crazy blog stalkers. ;) But you’re serious! So me!!!! I’m in the Metro area as well.
Haha……I wasn’t really joking. But also didn’t really organize anything. But I really would like to meet you guys who are so close!
I’ll probably be visiting the in-laws in Littleton sometime in there. I would LOVE to “coincidentally” plan my trip to match up with a craft/chat/whatever session.
Make it and take it with lots of treats sounds great to me!
I live down in Colorado springs and would love to come!!!
I wish I lived closer, I love your blog, and would love to meet the woman behind it :) I vote the next get together is in Salt Lake :)
Yes, please Salt Lake next!!!!!
Phoenix!! Phoenix!! Phoenix!!!
I vote for Phx. or Dallas. I live in Austin and would travel for your wonderful blog and interesting women that follow!
I’d love to get together. I actually talked to you about the possibility of teaching a class months ago. I’m in Aurora and I’d love to learn any tips or tricks you have for a beginner sewer. Besides that you have a million great projects that I want to try that I haven’t yet due to my inexperience.
Oh yeah, I remember that. I would love to get together……and yeah, Aurora is so close. perfect!
I’m in the Denver area. Craft, gab, food or any combo thereof would be great! I lean to weekends but can work out evenings.
I can think of a few fun spaces, but they’re all on the smaller side. Let me know if you need help with this once details are a bit firmer.
Sounds fun! I live about 30 minutes north and my hoa has a great room we could rent…just a thought. Too bad it’s not summer…we also have a fun hoa pool with slide where the kids could play.
You had me at CO ;) … born and bred, live just NW of the city. There are plenty of places to meet up. For larger things I most often use our HOA clubhouse (there are tons of those) but that might not be the thing. Seeing as it’s crafty-related, Club Workshop (http://www.clubworkshop.com/) might be a good place to meetup. I have not been there myself but I understand it’s very big. For a smaller group, there are nice rooms of many sizes at Wynkoop brewery. I’m sure others will have even more (and probably better) meetup location suggestions. Cheers! Always fun to meet crafty ladies (and gents).
Thanks for all the suggestions. These are great!
Sounds like fun! I could leave my 3-year old with the in-laws. But I’ve got a baby who absolutely refuses to take a bottle, and she’s a horrible car traveler! So a 6-hour drive including 5 hours of crying does not sound appealing (trust me, we did it last month!)
I’m in Delta….I’d love to know who the Fruita and Grand Junction people are…they’re only an hour away!
I’m from Grand Junction and would LOVE to hang out……..
Hi Ellen! I just looked at your website…you’ve got tons of cute stuff on there!
I could probably learn a lot from you…I’m a total newbie.
I saw your post above that you recently moved to GJct. Welcome to the area! :) Where are you from?
I’m from Grand Junction too….funny how all these west slope people are on here…I always thought it was the UT bloggers having all the fun. lol
I love in Fort Collins (North of Denver) love to meet you. I follow Make it and Love it……..And Love it!!!
I’m in Parker (just south of Aurora). Moved here recently. Would love to get together!
Wow! You have a lot of readers in or near Denver. Denver is one of my favorite places to visit. I’d love to join you if only I could teleport there for free and have someone watch my first grader after school for me. Hey Santa, can you work that out?! ;-)
Maybe if you write Santa NOW, he could work it out! :)
I am just west of Denver in Lakewood…it would be great fun to get together and meet other crafty Colorado ladies! If it’s a small group 10 or less, we could use the conference room at my office. Nothing fancy but it’d be free space. :o)
This would be great! I’m in Arvada (NW of Denver) and would love to meet up!
Sounds like soooo much fun! I live in NW Denver and would love to meet up with some crafty folks!
That would be so much fun, but I’m in California and I have a baby coming at the end of January. I hope all of you girls have a great time and don’t forget the pictures!!
I ilve about 3 hours from Denver, and I would love to come! Just let me know ahead of time. As far as what to do , food and chat has my vote, but whatever works too!
I would love to meet up! I justmight have to come out if you do this! It would be fun to be a part of this! But if I can’t…. I still want to come in the spring sometime when Robin can maybe come up too! I am dying to see you! Love you tons!!!
Yay Meliss, that would be so fun! But if not, let’s starting a time to meet up with Robby!!
I’m in Lakewood, and would love to meet some other crafty people in the area!
I’m in the Denver area too, and would love to get together with some other crafty women! Where? When?
I vote end of January – when it starts to get gloomy.
My husband knows of a HUGE conference area and is working on getting it for a decent price for us. Let me know and we can work it all out!
Let me know what you find out. Depending on how many come, that may work out great for us too! :)
ashley@makeit-loveit.com
Sounds so fun! I just moved to Denver a few months ago and would love to meet up!!
I’m in western Colorado and would love a meetup!
It is in Westminster near the Jeffco Airport. It can fit up to 150.
Oh, I just read this too. yeah, let me know more details when you find out. Thanks!
Ashley
I live in Parker and a meet up would be so fun! I keep hearing there are lots of neat crafters in the area too! I’ll drive anywhere in the area and treats are a must. The rest is optional. :)
Haha……you’re my kind of girl! :)
Ok, Landee, I KNOW where you live! :) Let’s make this happen! I agree – treats are a must!
I would LOVE to meet up! I’m about an hour north of Denver too. Saturdays are great as well!
I’m in! I think a fabric exchange and/or small crafty make and take would be fun! Maybe peeps could donate supplies for a craft and/or bring a treat or appetizer to share! Saturdays are great! Let’s do this! I am in the Denver area and would love to help in any way! Just let me know what we need to do! Mid Jan. or anytime in Feb. work great! Thanks for initiating a get together!
Yeah, I’ll have to work on some details to find donated supplies. Hmmmm……there are places in Denver who might be interested, I’m sure.
What a blast this could be! Let me know! Email chain? I am in Denver! Great idea~
I’m in Westminster! Would LOVE to do something like this!
I think it would be awesome! I’m not super crafty myself (little things here or there), so I don’t know about the exchange (don’t feel I would have lots to give).
Keep us updated! Weekends are best, but could work out an evening.
So excited . . .
Seattle! I happen to know your cousin, Brad, who lives here. I’m sure they’d let you stay at their house :-).
Haha…..that’s true! I have a sister near there too. Seattle is looking better and better! :)
I live in Col. Springs and would definitely make the drive up to Denver for a little meet up. I’m up for lunch/dinner or a crafty time or anything!
I saw the title and got so excited…and then I realized we’re going to be back in CA by the end of January. Boo! We moved here from Boulder this year, but we’ll be back for Christmas. We’re staying until the second week of January, so I had hope! But I’ll probably miss it. I’ll watch though, and if it happens earlier than you’re thinking, I’ll be there!
I am moving to Denver in March/April and would love to meet up if your gathering gets delayed or you decide to repeat. I will be in need of crafty friends! I am always up for making something or an exchange sounds fun.
I live in Oklahoma but Denver is only 8 hour away!! If the date was right I would TOTALLY come! :0)
Oooooooh, it would be AWESOME to meet up in Denver! I’m actually close enough to make a weekend work (although I admit to feeling totally unworthy of the presence of y’all! hehe).
Would you like to make something? YES!!!
Share sewing traditions? Or favorite sewing supplies? YES!!!
Eat treats? (sorry, but this one is a must!!) uh, OF COURSE!!!
Meet at some swank restaurant and just eat and gab? That sounds super fun!
end of Jan/start of Feb sounds fab, and a weekend (Sat!) is a must :D There are TONS of places we could meet – the Tech Center has lots of nice hotels with various sized conference rooms. Downtown there’s a hotel called the Curtis that has some really fun and swanky decor (google it, you’ll see what I mean! When we stayed there we had to go to each floor to see the decor hehe!).
Amy, THANKS for all the ideas and suggestions. Love it! I’ll have to look into those venues. See you there! (Wherever “there” is!)
I live in Springs, I’m in!
BOSTONNNNN!!! PLEASE!
Yes that sounds like fun! A Saturday would be better for me or a weekday and February would be good.. Would it be ok to bring my 8 month old son? I’m just and hour or so south of Denver.
Totally. As it gets closer, and if we do crafts, I will mention that bigger kids will need to stay home (just so there isn’t craziness with running around and such) but babies are welcome. As long as they don’t chew on cords or pull on glue guns. ;) haha!
I would totally come! Live down in the Springs so Denver is totally do-able!!
Can you please come visit Oklahoma?! I wish I lived closer…..sounds like so much fun!!
I know who you met, because she is one of my facebook friends and mentioned she met you! Stephanie is her name :) And I’ll have to make sure my SIL who lives in Fort Collins sees this post :) I, unfortunately, live near Raleigh, NC, so no trip for me…although I am planning on visiting my bro next Fall….just sayin’ And, yeah, it’s a small world, yes?
Oh how funny! That must be her!! And darn, we were just living in Savannah 6 months ago, so not far from you at the time. I wish I would have planned something like this in Atlanta. Bummer.
I’m in Denver and would love to meet up with everyone!
I SOOOOOO Wish I could meet up with you too! Maybe you can do a meet up on the east coast… ;)
I would love to. That may be one of the next places. :)
I live in the Broomfield area and would love to meet everyone!
I’m not in Colorado so I wouldn’t be able to join, but if you ever come back to Boise, I’m in! Although we have a hard enough time trying to get 3 or 4 of us together to craft at a time. We’ve managed one candy making day so far and trying to get together this weekend either for more candy making or to sew Christmas presents & teach my bff & daughter how to sew. I would do a small craft project & some sort of exchange. Even if it’s bring scraps, combine into small quilts/blankets or hats or stuffed animals & then donate them to a local children’s hospital or something.
I’m in the Broomfield area (just north of Denver) and would love to meet up! Ashley, as a spin-off idea, would you be interested in starting a facebook group or google group for crafters in the front range area? It would be fun to do a large meet-up, but it would also be nice to just find out who lives near each other for smaller meet-ups, too. Would anyone else be interested in this? Sometimes it’s hard for me to get too far away from home, so finding people who are really close to me would be so nice (hint, hint, all of you who said you live in Westminster or Arvada!). I’d be happy to start a facebook group, but I don’t have the platform for advertising it like you do.
Hmmmm……I’ll have to look into that. Great idea! :)
YOU SHOLD COME VIRGINIA BEACH!! I AM OBSESSED WITH YOUR BLOG AND WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU. I KNOW MY FRIENDS WOULD TOO!!
Oh what fun, only I am in the St. Louis area. My vote is St. Louis next year:) Have a wonderful, fun time:)
I live in Manitou Springs (just w of Colorado Springs). I don’t think I could leave my baby here while I take a trip to Denver… but I might be able to attend if I can bring him.
Crafts/dining/anything sound good to me. :)
Bring him!! As long as he’s small and isn’t pulling on glue gun cords, I’m sure he’d be fine. More details about that will come when I start finalizing some things. Deal? :)
This would be totally fabulous! I live an hour north in Greeley. BTW– any fellow crafters living up in N. CO who’d ever want to get together and have some sewing, gluing, crafting fun?
I’m in FoCo and NONE of my friends are crafty!! Maybe we can get together. However, this meet up sounds like a blast!
I would love to meet up and craft or chat. I live in the north suburbs of Denver but work in Westminster. I work at a school and we could probably use a classroom or gym for free…it wouldn’t be fancy but it would be a large space to host a crafting event or a larger group.
That may be a really good idea. Thanks…..I’ll keep that in mind when I’m thinking of location and such! :)
FYI, there is quilt museum in Golden (West side)
I live four hours away, but I’d be willing to drive and meet–I’m all for anything we do–talk, learn, eat. etc!
Sounds like a great time! Too bad I’m all the way east, in the Adirondacks of upstate NY.
It was me at church:) It was so fun meeting you! Your kiddos are just as darling in person! I SO wish I lived in Colorado and could meet up, but I actually live in Ohio.. Seeing how I have in-laws there though, maybe I will get lucky and be there whenever you schedule this! Sounds like SO much fun!
Oh yay!!!! Your name is Steph! After you walked away I was like, “Ack….get back here so I can at least ask your name!” I know, it was crazy and my kids were getting antsy to get to class. But I didn’t realize you were from so far away. But yes, if you’re back in town early next year, let’s meet up. I think your two little ones you had by you were my 2 younger ones ages, right? Around 3 years old and baby? Anyway…….I’m glad you saw that note about you. Too funny! You knew just who I was talking about! :) Cracks me up. Thanks for saying HI!
Ashley
What a cool idea!! I live in Pueblo, and would love to drive up, depending on the date of course. I work, so a weekend would be best, and February would be better for me than January or March.
I think this sounds great……being new to CO (OK I’ve been here almost 2 years) I haven’t meet too many friends that share common interest, so this would be great…Im in for whatever!!
Yeah! I’d love to do this. We just moved to Cheyenne so Denver isn’t too far away. I’d love to do it on a weekend and think a crafty night would be awesome. I’m not a big fan of the restaurant idea since I’m not sure how easy it is to talk to everybody when you’re seated down like that. I also think a craft supply exchange would be awesome! I have so many crafty things that I don’t use any more and so many I’d like to get:)
Oh wow, my husband is doing a clinical rotation right now in your E.R. Today is his last day so he doesn’t have to be so far anymore. But he has loved the rotation there.
And you’re right about the restaurant. If there were only 8-10 of us, that would be different. But it sounds like we’ll need more of a mingling atmosphere.
Ashley
Such a great idea. I just moved to Parker, CO over the summer. I vote crafting and food!!!
NorthWest Montana! :) It’s a bit far, I know. You’ll have to document this little get together for all of us out-of-towners. I’m totally jealous at how many of you are close enough. It’s so fun to get together with other crafty gals, or gals who love crafty things! What a fun idea!
I’m so there!
My mom lives in Arvada, so maybe I’ll get lucky and be visiting her whenever you decided to do this. I’m in Bozeman, MT.
I would love to meet. How fun! What about meeting at a public library? They always have meeting rooms and since I assume you won’t collect money, it should be free. Maybe I can soak up some courage to try sewing clothing. :)
It would be so fun to meet you! I live in southern WY and will totally drive down to the big city for a fun little event. Although I am due to have my own cuddly munchkin in January so we’ll see if I’m able to be super mom and pull it off or not. :)
I’m just north of Denver – I’d love to come!
I would LOVE to! We started out in Rexburg and moved to Denver a year and a half ago. Food and chatting or food and crafting works for me. By the looks of it, 80+ people might be too much for a restaurant :), but I am up for whatever! it would be so fun. Just don’t wait until April because I am having a baby then!
That’s where we started too! We had one more stop in GA but are now in CO like you too. And yeah, the restaurant idea is out. There’s no way we would all fit or be able to talk while sitting down to eat. And congrats on your baby!
Yes! I actually started following your blog because I met you at a baby shower a few months back (it was Emily’s shower). A few of my friends and I used to have a craft night once a month and it fell apart. I would like to have a local person or two or three to start having a get together with again.
Oh how funny……that sweet little Emily! I was pretty new then, so everyone was pretty much a new face to me at that baby shower. But it was sure fun! Are you her neighbor? If so, we should meet up for something locally. :) If not, maybe this meet-up will introduce you to a few new people.
Ashley
Yes I live right behind Emily. Something local sounds great.
Oh, and wouldn’t a church cultural hall work great? I attend the Denver Stake center which might be the most centrally located, although it is more on the South end of Denver, depending on where everyone is coming from. Just an idea.
I thought of that too……but am worried now that it may get too big for a non-church related activity. I’m sure there are other places that will work. I just have to keep looking.
Thanks! Ashley
I’m in Colorado, but waaaayyy over in the SW corner, about 9 hrs away….but I would love to come meet people. That would be so fun. Keep us updated!
idreamloudly.com
chiming in from south central coloRADo–about 5 hours from denver. my sister lives in south denver, so maybe with 2 excuses (you and her) to make the trip, i could pull it off.
I am thinking of moving to Colorado in January and it would be super fun to meet. Does anyone live in Fort Collins? That’s where we want to move? Do you like it there?
I moved to Fort Collins about a year ago, and we plan to stay forever. There’s a reason this place makes the list of Top Places to live year after year! There’s so much to do and it’s so family oriented! You’ll love it!
I don’t live there…..but I have a brother who does. And he loves it. And so does everyone else who talks about it. Good luck with the move! Hopefully you can meet up with us after you’re all unpacked.
Ashley
Aah, that’s so sweet! I thought you’d never ask. :) I live in Colorado Springs {looks like there are several of us here} and would be thrilled to craft, chat, and eat with you! Restaurant and chatting. Sounds great. But can we load our crafting gear into a restaurant? Hmm… maybe a potluck and chatting and crafting. Sign me up for ham & red pepper dip. I think you will love it. And yes to a Saturday in either Jan or Feb. Sounds perfect. Post holidays, pre-warm weather…I will need something fabulous like this to look forward to! Thanks girl! See you soon!
~Cumorah
Oooooh, I would love this! I am in Boulder and am available whenever– I will make it work :) :) And I love the idea of Front Range fans meeting up– that sounds like the funnest group ever!
Does anyone even know where Walsenburg, Co is? That’s where I am from and if the weather cooperates and the day decided on works I would love to meet some Colorado bloggers! I have been trying to get up a list of Co Bloggers to do something like this and am glad you have taken the reigns!!!
bee blessed
mary
I live just outside of Denver, so I’d totally be up for it! It would be fun to do a craft, or even just talking about sewing and crafty stuff. A Q&A might be fun. Anytime is good. Keep me posted.
Hi Ashley,
I would be up for anything. Sorry-I know that’s not super helpful in making decisions. I do think that restaurants are hard to hear people and conversations and my throat always hurts afterwards… so something a little more cozier would be nice!
I say sometime end of Jan. or Feb.
This will be fun!
Annie
Oh I meant to tell you that if you are coming up via I25 we are between Trinidad and Pueblo- would love for you to stay the night in your travels if you’re that way- we have a great big house that we use for ministry purposes just like this!
Thanks Mary, that’s so kind of you! We won’t be traveling through……..but I appreciate the offer!
I grew up in CO and was just there for Thanksgiving… wish I could come out for this get-together! How fun!
Um YES I would love this. We have family and friends right in denver and flights from Provo are super cheap! I may also know of a possible location to meet if not a restaurant :)
Yay! It would be fun to see you. And YES, tell me the location. (Because the restaurant idea is out!)
YAY! YAY! YAY!
I am in Denver and I am IN. January, February, crafting, not crafting… just can’t wait!
Sounds great! My SIL is in your ward actually- funny stuff. She’s in the primary pres. We might be there for Christmas. Would love to meet you again in Denver- we live in the Springs- but I’m sure we could get some people to come!
The Savages?? I think she told me about you. Ronnie sounds familiar! Anyway…..how fun. Be sure to tackle me down at church even though I’ll probably be rushing a child to class or calming a fussy baby! :)
I would totally love to come. I live in the Phoenix area but would be willing to make a visit to my Denver friends that time of year. You should really consider phx area! It’s much warmer that time of year. : )
Yeah, and you may need a little dose of snow or something!! ;) i grew up in AZ and miss the heat there when I’m freezing my buns off in the winter.
I live about an hour north of Denver too but work in the Denver area and would LOVE to meet up:). I would probably best be able to make it in a Saturday during the day, so long as I convinced my husband that he has had his time for trips, and now I’m running off to meet complete strangers who love crafting like I do. I’m sure he’ll be super supportive:)
Its dunny you’re suggesting this because ever since you said you moved to CO I’ve wondered if I might ever bump into you! Oh, and I’d be happy with doing anything, and early Feb would be my preference (then we could do valentines day crafts…maybe)!
Haha……I know what you mean! I told my husband my idea and he’s like, “You don’t even know these people!” I laughed and promised we would meet in a very public place. :)
And hmmmm…..you never know, we may bump into each other. But don’t laugh if I look like a mess, trying to find a great bargain scrap of fabric at the fabric store. ;)
Ashley
Count me in! I’m not a good planner (read: I have zero ideas) but I’d love to come!
Ok, so I’m in Littleton! And I love crafting, but I think the Melting Pot would make a great meet up! Get to know people, eat fondue……Yum! I even think there is a Melting Pot in the Springs!
I also live an hour north of Denver and would love to meet up!
I WISH! :) Come to Portland, or Seattle and I’ll be there in a heartbeat! :)
Same for Japan!!
It sounds like fun…
WHAT ABOUT A CRAFTING SERVICE PROJECT?…JUST THINK ABOUT ALL THE GOOD THAT THIS GROUP OF LADIES COULD DO!!!
I’m in S Denver, so it’s totally do-able for me. I vote February, and Saturdays are good (then I’m not constrained by the school / preschool schedules!) ;)
(I bet I could round up one or more of my sisters and my mom as well!)
I think this is a fantastic idea! I love it!! Let me keep stewing over this and make sure we would have enough resources and such. Thank you!!!
Ashley
Love your site but live in L.A. :( Sounds like lots of fun though – great idea!
I’m in lA too. Put LA on you list and I’ll be there!
That would be awesome. I live right down in the Springs so Its not a far drive at all!! But yes, after the holidays.
Hey Ashley, I tried emailing you back from like a year ago but Im not sure if you ever got it, I guess your address changed. I would love to meet up sometime. I was hoping to actually visit you on our last road trip when we went to denver and colorado springs this past August, but never got around to figuring it all out.
I dont know what the roads or weather is like in the next while, but I love a good road trip. I live in Colorado and live west of denver ( Email me I would love just a one on one sometime (well plus kids or even husbands). Id love to share some old college dance videos or photos ;)
ALSO id be into a big craftin, snackin, idea talkin day with other fellow crafters sometime too. Weekends are a must for me. (else who would watch the kiddos during the adult craftin fun time)
I would say February. Im always itching to get out of the house and travel then (of course I could use a tropical getaway each feb too!)
Maybe you could get a hotel conference room. Maybe they would have some sort of deal if you suggested blog readers traveling could stay there in their hotel???
Hey RoShawn!!! Awwww, dancing memories, that would be fun! And yes, we need to meet up…….even if it’s some crazy crafting thing in Denver! :) And I know, the dreary time of the year is the best time to have something to look forward to. :)
Ashley
What about Poland ? :) just kidding ! but I want You to know that You have also fans in Poland. Best greetings from Europe
Yay for Poland!!!! Can we all stay at your house? You have like 100 extra beds, right? ;) Glad you chimed in!!!
Oh You have right, it could be a problem :P but it could be a big fun too !
Count me in! I live in Aurora and have been open craft nights at my house for a while now. I’ve got a whole group that would love to come. Quite a few of us live in communities with club houses that you can rent out for $25-50. Or there is always the option of meeting at the Church for free. My birthday is January 16, sounds like the perfect day for a sew expo! I’d love to help plan. I love to plan parties! I love to sew, what’s not to love!
So I live in PA. Any chance you all want to come here? You could visit Amish country… (this was said in a sing-song tantalizing voice).
Ashley,
I would love to do a meet up with you, however I am an Indiana girl, but you never know where my travels will take me so here’s the deal… I will keep Colorado in mind and you keep Indiana in mind and maybe someday in the future it will work out. In the meantime I will be a daily stalker and an occasional commentor!
Have a great day! Hug your poor little sick one for me!
It’s a deal! And thank you…..he’s still off but feeling much better today! :)
Hello Ashley- I would love to get together with other like minded crafters in the area. I think getting together and doing a crafting event would be fun.
Yes! I would come. Whatever it is I would come. Woohoo!
Ooooh I would love to make this happen! I live in Rexburg and know some other ladies who love your blog! Maybe we could have a road trip?? I love the idea of having it be a service project of some kind. With all that talent gathered together we could do some real good!
Awww man…I wish I lived in Colorado!
One of my friends said that she ran into you on Sunday while visiting from Ohio (originally SE Idaho), don’t know if it is the same girl, but her name is Stephanie. She’s a doll.
Yep, she left a comment too!! It was totally her and I’m bummed we didn’t get to chat much. But it was fun to meet someone new! :)
Man! I used to live in Lakewood and I’m wishing I still did.
I’m in the Denver Metro area and would LOVE a meet up! Sounds like lots of fun! No idea of a place though.
Comment #115 has a good idea–community clubhouse. You could also contact Denver Fabrics and ask if they have a conference space or room they could rent. It is big & they might like sewing people coming there.
Ooh, that’s a good idea. Thanks!
oh I miss Denver so much. Hope you all have so much fun.
Who knew there were so many of us in Colorado? Yay! I’d love to do a little furniture thrifting or a ladies Make-and-Take crafting event.
I’m from Denver! Colorado is the best state ever!! Good place for a meet up!!
My bro’s in Boulder, but we’ve no plans to visit from the midwest. Maybe next time!
You can probably find a free place to meet if you’re willing to do so in a library meeting room or church social space.
I wish, but I don’t know if I could justify the drive from Salt Lake! We are about to close on a house and I can’t tell you how many of your sewing/crafting posts have inspired me! I have begun plans for furniture, bathroom, curtains, and I’ve made several of your kid tutorials for my little guy. I wish I could meet and thank you in person!! I considered starting a craft blog showing my work, but it would be a repeat (all track-backs!) of your blog!! :)
Oooh, no, a new house is way more fun than a craft day. How exciting! And congrats!!! :)
Ooooh – sounds fun! Go Denver! I would love for you to show us how to make something. Or have us bring our own supplies and make it right along with you (obviously something easy that doesn’t require sewing machines). And/or bring a few or a bunch of the projects you’ve shown us so we can look and touch them. And it should also be required that everyone bring something to eat and we’ll have some super yummy snacks.
Come to Dallas later next year and I will be there! :)
HHmmmmm, I would consider jumping on a direct flight from San Luis Obispo…. will look into it once the details are firmed up…..
I’d join you!! Went to Cal Poly and LOVE SLO!! I live in Santa Cruz now.
Sounds good to me! I’m up for meeting up with crafty types any time.
I’m in Highlands Ranch.
i’m in highlands ranch, too, jenn!!! holy cow!!
Haha… I might be one of the ones who flies in from overseas! Living in Holland at the moment, but I’m a California Girl!! If you ever want to host one of these in the Bay Area (San Francisco) or better yet, Santa Cruz!! I’d totally come/help you plan it!
SO wish the US was as small as some of these European countries sometimes. It would makes these fun get-togethers easier! When I drive, 4 hours puts me through 4 different countries… and I can go from Amsterdam to London (ok that trip actually takes 5 hours by car)!!!
I would totally come to one in Santa Cruz! Just came back to CO from being there for Thanksgiving.
Yes, if you ever wanted to do one in Santa Cruz or Monterey area in Cali, I would be there and help plan. The weather here is beautiful! :)
And I am sure that I was in Rexburg the same time as you were!
Don’t live near Denver but wouldn’t it be fun to gather your Aunts, Mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins for a road trip? Wonder if I could pull that off???? Keep us posted!
Want to know a funny thing, I just had a dream about meeting you last night. How crazy is that? I live by Boise, ID and wish CO was closer. If you every come back to Idaho and visit your family I would LOVE to meet you. I think you are just an amazing person and would hope some of your craftiness would rub off on me. I love following your tutorials and seeing pictures of your adorable children. Keep up the fantastic work your are doing!
That is hilarious!!! My dreams are normally wild like that.
Ashley, I wish I lived closer!! :( I’m in Illinois.
I would love to get together and do something crafty! I follow your blog and I love your tutorials. But sadly I live in N.C. and would not be able to make it. Keep up the great work !
I’m there, but sadly have no places in mind.
I’m in Fort Collins & would love to meet up. I’m totally open to what ever where ever & agree there should be food.Ha! I dunno much about Denver so venues are not my speciality.
I would LOVE to come and meet you, but alas, I’m back on the east coast. So, if you ever decide to do something like this, but in let’s say, Raleigh, I’m totally in!! :)
I’m in Fort Collins and would love to meet up. What ever you decide is fine with me (but food is always a plus!). Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Yes!! I would totally love meeting up sometime. I live just about 45 min north of Denver and i have several friends who would love to come. I have to admit when you first said you were moving to Colorado I secretly hoped you would move into our ward and then I could pick your brain in person about all sorts of crafts. But funny enough I was in your Brother’s ward before we bought our home. i would love to make some crafts with you and of course eat some yummy food too.
Ooh, yes! How fun would that be?! I live in Grand Junction and would love to get to know some fellow Coloradoans. ;)
i’ll be visiting my family in CO in just a couple weeks for a girls only weekend (my mom, my sister, and my sister-in-laws) – no kids! i don’t know that i can make it out again so soon, but maybe a future one. if you ever decide to do a get-together in idaho though, let me know!
Sounds like fun! I live just south of Denver and think this chat and craft idea is awesome!
i’m just south of denver, too!! where are you, nichole?
In Aurora, by 225 and I 25.
I wish I could go! Plan your next trip to Lancaster, PA and I’ll take you to Zook’s to score some awesome deals on fabric. haha!
Oh my goodness!!! You have no idea how excited I was to hear that you had moved to Colorado! I was hoping it would be Colorado Springs! I have been following your blog for about a year and love, love, love it! I taught myself how to sew because of your blog! (Well I guess you could say that you taught me as well.) I live in Colorado Springs and would LOVE to have a big meetup with the Colorado girls! I don’t know about Denver, but I have a few places I know of in this area. I am up for whatever, whenever!
I live in AZ! its not that far but my parents would probably take me if i asked over and over! i am only 13 but i can make everything on this website! :D you are amazing and i hope i can go! (if there is no age limit…)
I’m so jealous! I live all the way down in Houston :( and besides that I’m having a baby boy in March and doubt my doc would appreciate me driving to colorado right before he’s due lol.
I was feeling so alone, I had no idea there were so many bloggers here. I cannot wait to meet all of you! I love the IKEA and the Denver Fabrics idea, it seems like this is going to be HUGE! Colorado is wonderful! Food is always a must. I like the idea of not meeting at a restaurant because we could all make something to bring. Can we do it in January early? I am almost more excited for this than for Christmas!!! If you need help planning let me know I would love to help. Best idea ever.
I am now slightly bummed…that I don’t live in Denver. I live in Mobile Alabama. So if you or anyone is down this way who is interested in DIY, blogging, design… let me know! I’ve been following this blog for over a year now and I simply love it. Wish I could be there!
ooooooh! I live like six hours away in jolly good vernal utah! but, i have a friends who’s mom works for our little airline on the denver side, and could get a flight for 30 bucks that’d be so much fun!!!
I live in Pueblo, about an hour and half away and I would be there! I love crafting and don’t do as much as I would like to, but I love your blog! Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas with us!
I think you should do the Dallas/Fort Worth area next!:) I’m sure there are a ton of make it- love it followers out here!
Hi! I’ve just started following your blog because I love so many of your projects. I live in south central colorado in Salida. The Liar’s Lodge in Buena vista hosts lots of knitting retreats and its close to beautiful scenery and hot springs! Crafting weekend retreat?? I’m totally interested in coming to Denver too!
That’s only 12 hours away and my sister in law lives there…good excuse for a road trip! I say end of February on a Saturday and do a make and take thing-y or a craft/sewing swap. Sounds so fun! I hope I can make it whenever it may be. Then we might be able to finally figure out why/how we know each other from those good ‘ol days at Ricks :)
I never realized you relocated to Colorado! That is excellent! I would be game for meeting up. I had no idea how many of us are from the Aurora/Centennial/Parker area.
I used to live in Denver, and I work in Theatre so my recommendations may be expensive but they’ll definitely hold people! 1. The convention center 2. The Ellie Caulkens Opera House (rents out the basement) 3. Any of your local high schools probably rent out their theater for very inexpensive or free (great space if you ever wanted to do a workshop or live demo) 4. Racines Restaurant – it is delicious- has a free parking garage and can take large reservations 5. Let’s go bowling? For something informal and fun, Arapahoe Bowling Center has a great deal on games, and is close to I-25 (off Arapahoe Rd) (Oh, and my Dad owns it, so he might cut you a deal if you drop my name)
Hey, I live in Aurora, and I would be all about meeting up! How fun!
Ok, I read through almost all of these replies and it looks like Parker / even Park Meadows is kind of in the middle of all these Denver areas…just sayin’. Would love to do this meeting thing. Maybe everyone could bring treats and something crafty to share…we could even make this an annual or semi-annual thing. What a great idea! BTW, what church do you go to? Please check out my blog http://loveitsewmuch.blogspot.com/. I’m new to this but excited! Would love to see you there!
You know how sometimes you think you are the only one who is in the area a blogger is talking about and you feel so special that they are thinking of being in your area? Oh yeah, then you go to the comments section and there are about a billion other people who feel the same? But you feel special anyway because you have wanted to do a craft/sew night meet up anyways. Ok, so that only just happened but still.
I’m in the Parker area and I know that the Lone Tree Rec Center and the Lone Tree Cultural Center (could be called something else) are both pretty reasonable during the day and could hold a larger crowd.
Can’t wait.
I am in Douglas County and would love to meet up. Whatever day and date you pick will work for me unless my driveway happens to be snowed under. We get a lot of drifting and have been known to get snowed in even in minor snowstorms. I think sharing something crafty would be fun, and food is always a great idea. Can’t wait to meet everyone!
I vote for Salt Lake City
Ashley,
Pretty sure it’s about time you made it over to good ol’ Utah! You have plenty of fans here, and I’m sure a few clogging videos from the good ol’ days will keep your spirits up. ;o) Still love your blog and you’re always welcome to stay with me if you make it!
Brit :o)
I’m in the Springs and would consider coming to a meet-up. You might want to check out Fabric Bliss as a meeting spot. They have a great upstairs area that we’ve used for quilt guild meetings.
I had a thought: for those of us out-of-towners who travel, we could meet up with you sometime at the Denver airport! Yup, I would be willing. I fly United quite frequently and could have a long layover to accommodate a meetup.
I know you are trying to coordinate locals, but keep this in mind in case you ever want to spread the love outside CO!
Oh! I so wish I could come!!! I live in Wheeling, WV and on my 5th child expected by March so… I will have to wait til you repeat the event in another strategic location closer to me girly girl!
Irene Gonzalez
I’m moving to the springs in the springs if your decide to postpone or do another meetup. I’d love to join you.
I would love to do something like this! I am in the Littleton area.:)
Sounds great, I am in Centennial. Moved here from Dallas about a year ago. Not sure on a venue, maybe someone knows of a Church meeting room we could use? I am in a Douglas County Scrapbooking meetup group. We meet at the Pinery Firestation (in Parker) but not sure if we could use it just as a 1 time thing. Could look into it though. I am game for anything. I love making crafts but also just getting together and chatting is great too. Would love to meet you and other crafters!!
I love in Austin too. Too far for me but I would love to meet up if you come down here. That sounds SO FUN! I would love to meet any other ladies here in Austin that are crafty.
I live in the Springs too! I think a Denver meetup sounds fantastic!
I’m in Westminster! :)
I don’t live in Colorado, I live in Florida…but if I was closer, I would COMPLETELY be up for something like this. Have a great time, and if you decide to do a Southeast version one day, I’m in! Thanks for sharing all your ideas!
I’m in Cheyenne, WY and would be more than willing to drive down!
I just moved North of Denver and would love to get together. I follow your blog and love crafting :) It would be great to meet others that do too.
What a lovely idea! I live just 20 minutes north of Denver. Love your blog – totally patterned my bedroom after yours when you posted about those fabulous pillows you made out of Amy Butler fabric and it makes me happy every stinkin’ time I walk into my room. Please share deets when you have them!
I am in Denver as well and I am new to the area. It would be way fun to meet up and do some kind of craft with everyone. I love your blog!!
I just came across your cell phone holder and then to this page! I would so love to meet other crafters! I live in Littleton, but have friends who have a hall in Arvada that might be willing to let us use it!
I’m in Denver and I’d love to come. Keep us posted!
It depends on how many people and how big a space you would want. Living the Sweet Life http://www.livingthesweetlifedenver.com/home/ is a small bakery just off I-25 across from downtown and they have a small upstairs that is super cute and they rent it out. Also, for a bigger space that is super cool try Elliot Street Collective in NW Denver
2460 Eliot Street, Denver, CO 80211 Phone 303-997-7763
Also, near those two is The House of Commons (tea room) http://www.houseofcommonstea.com/default.asp
All are centrally located near downtown Denver
I want to come!! I make treats, so I can bring some to share :) I would love to do a crafty make and take. What a fun idea!
also…. I like Saturdays, easier to get a sitter for me!
I live in Denver and would love to meet up with all the fabulous DIY!
I’d love to come, too! Sounds like fun!
I don’t live in Denver but would be more than willing to drive! I seriously need to make some friends! Keep us posted!!!!!
I live in Fort Collins! North of Denver. I would love to meet up with everyone!!
I live in S.E Aurora (20 min from Denver). Pls count me sooooo in!! Thanks!
Count Me In! I will come:) cannot wait
I would love to come too! I live in Southeast Colorado (close to Mary at Mary’s Meanderings). We were talking about doing this, so how great that someone is organizing it!
That sounds fun! I live 3 1/2 hrs away but it’s the closest mall so I plan day trips there, so let u’s know what date u set.
I just got this blog sent to a friend in Tampa…I live in Denver. I am totally in for whatever! Add me to your email list! Always interested in meeting new fun folks.
Sorry…sent from a friend!
I’m in Aurora! I’d love to come to come to something like this! I’ve made a few of the projects you have posted over the years and really admire how you upcycle things. I think it would be a great treat to get together with you and other crafty mamas. :)
I live in Lakewood and I would love to meet the other crafty women in this area! I love your blog…it is so inspiring!
Wow a lot of people interested. Sounds like you need to make a Meet Up.com group to get this all together and organized. (especially for any local spin off groups :) ) I dont know much about the downtown area but I think some pubs have little back rooms that you can reserve, Breckenridge Brewery might be one of those, not sure. I think there is a scrapbook store in denver too. Michaels in Superior has a craft room that is available too if someplace closer to Boulder is needed. Would love to join up with you all!
I’m in Denver and would be interested in coming (though I just stumbled across your blog today). I went to an etsy meetup at the central library – the central library (downtown) and all the other libraries have meeting rooms available, though I think the one at central is by far the biggest. http://denverlibrary.org/content/meeting-rooms There was food there so I don’t think that goes against their policy, though I’m not sure.
I am about midway from the Springs to Denver and would be up for something after the first of the year.
Hi, Ashley.
I’m from Brazil, borned in São Paulo and living in the Northeast of Brazil, Recife, Pernambuco. Beach, sun, good people. That’s the way we, brazilians, are: happy, cheerfully, funny.
What happens here is amazing. Yesterday I was talking about one secret desire in my life: If possible and if I could choose a place to live, although my dreams about Europe, it would be Colorado. Just Colorado and its beauty! No matter where. Welcome to my life, Ashley.
I’m following your blog and if you want to, follow mine. There is a translator online. Thanks again.
Cida.
I would like to come. I’m in Conifer about 50 mins outside of Denver.
I am all for meeting up. I am in Parker and you have to promise to share some sort of genius idea with us when we meet you ;)
I just came across Make It and Love It from the tutorial on making a t-shirt into a headband (which I just finished and they turned out fabulous, by the way!!!) and saw this post. We are moving to Centennial at the end of this month so I think it would be so much fun!!! I would love to come.
Just came across this post. I live in Arvada and would love to meet up, and would be willing to drive :) Has there been a decision reached yet?!
I think we do live near each other! All of your pictures have the same view as most of my pictures! And I recognized the rec center in the picture from the run you did. (You probably saw a super pregnant woman running the same race…thats my sister….)
I would be willing to come…let me check my schedule, and I would be able to bring 3 sewing machines. Can we also bring crochet and knitting projects?
So I know everyone is giving different cities… how about Kansas City?? I LOVE your site and have so much to learn from you all!!! Thanks for all the info for provide on the site :)
i would love to come only i would have to catch plane first! :(
Dang it! I just found this blog & am LOVING it! Plus I live just outside Boulder. As always a day late & $1 short :( let me know if there is another Co. Meet up! I’m down!
