Sneaky Peeky
I have finally hunkered down and purchased fabric for Halloween costumes.
The kiddos recently decided on what they wanted to be. I offered suggestions, discouraged complicated ideas, found ideas on the internet………and then we finally narrowed it down to one theme. Yes, one theme. Surprisingly, the two older kids totally agreed on the same theme. (It was more the little brother wanting to do what his big sister does.) So they get to match again this year. The baby…….meh, she doesn’t care. So I get to fit her into the theme too.
The first costume isn’t quite done (well, either are the other 2). I was sure trying to get it finished by today……but (sigh) it just didn’t happen over the weekend. But hopefully I can show you each one this week. But who knows, it may dribble into next week. But that’s okay if it does. There are still 14 more days until Halloween, so I’m ahead of the game, right?
And because telling you what the theme is would ruin all the fun……..I’ll give you a sneak peek instead.
And yep, even a zipper like last week’s tutorial.
And here’s the rest of the pile to cut, piece together, sew, and adjust. Can’t wait to see it all done!
Any guesses? :)
A bigger reveal tomorrow. Hopefully.

nacho libre?!
I’m thinking Cinderella and Prince Charming?
didn’t she do Cinderella and Prince Charming last year?
Yeah, They already did Cinderella and Prince Charming
Hmm…I don’t know! But I’m excited to find out.
My guess is Rainbow Brite! Can’t wait to see the finished costumes. I plan to start on my own next week.
my first thought when I saw the top picture was ‘oooh princess Leia!’ but then I saw all the bright colors soooo, not so much. haha. I’ve got nuthin. I’m going with poster number 4 – rainbow bright.
Mary Poppins and Bert! Our girls will be twinners!
Angry Birds!!?
A rainbow, sun and clouds??
Snow white? Sure to be adorable no matter what the theme it! Smiles~Beth
Snow White and… 2 dwarfs?? :) It’s sure to be cute!
My guess was Snow white as well! So excited to see!
Snow white!!
I don’ t know! My first thought was ghosts when I saw the white, but I’ve no idea… I was just thinking what the colours might make, and I thought – TURKEYS!!!! :-) hahaha… Sorry, we’re not real good at this Halloween stuff in Australia.
My first thought: Snow White… or Mary Poppins! Can’t wait to find out! :)
I’m thinking Rainbow Brite!!
I’m going with Mary Poppins too! The small piece of blue material convinced me, since the only blue in that particular “Bert” costume is a bow tie. Mary Poppins has been on my brain because my husband and I are going as that this year (but wearing costumes from a different scene). I can’t wait to see the finished product…and what your baby girl will be dressed as. Hmmm…perhaps a penguin? =)
snow white.
I am guessing gnomes or smurfs?
hmmm…Gnomeo and Juliet
hmmm, I’ll elaborate – Papa Smurf , baby smurf and smurfette?
Uh….not sure…my first thought was Kate middleton and prince William. So, I have no clue. Obviously. Ha.
I’m thinking Pirate(s of the Caribbean)! :)
I am guessing Alice in Wonderland :) but then there is not that much blue fabric, so I have no idea! Can’t wait to see it!
I think it’s Gnomeo and Juliet. Or just garden gnomes.
Pirates, parrots.
Well… my first guess was candy corn. Not sure where blue fits into that… but I’m sticking with halloween candy!! :)
hahahah mine too! :) LOL!
Yep, my guess is candy corn (and I’m thrown by the blue as well)!
Oompa- loompas? Not in the ‘cute’ category like a princess but the colors work…
I’m going with Pac-Man… (someone has to be different) the ghost is the white and the other 2 are the little pac-man/men?
A bridal party? Hmmm. Don’t know but it’s sure to be cute.
The Incredibles?
I’m thinking either Sailor Moon and pals or Smurfs!
An angel in white and a little devil in the reds and orange. Not sure about the light blue though…
I’m guessing William and Kate!
lol so I see a the top part of a white dress…and random other colours…so i think Bride right away and since a friend of mine said her kids were going as chucky and bride of chucky…so that’s my guess LOL
okay well probably not chucky lol I’d guess prince william and kate but I’m not sure what the orange fabric is for :)
maybe Snow white?!!
Snow White for sure… and a few dwarfs.
Bo Peep and other characters from Toy Story?
I’m going to guess Rainbow Brite?
I have no clue… But I love that you make your own!
When I first saw the picture I immediately thought of rainbow brite, but it could be so many things!!
I think snow white!
I’m thinking The Little Mermaid (the one in her wedding dress) and Sebastian and Flounder (or Prince Eric). Whatever it is, I’m super excited to see the finished product!
They’re going like candy corn
SMURFS!
Not enough blue material to be smurfs and the real Snow White dress isn’t even white in the bodice! Now if 4 year old dd is setting the theme, I’d guess something princess-y or bridal and then little bro follows and baby added in the theme. My now 7 yr old was a bride at age 4 – and I see some lace peaking out!
I guess a princess?
I want to make my kids’s costumes again but haven’t even started. I’m no where as fast a sewer so I may just have to buy this year. Phooey .(
My 2 oldest girls wanted to be mermaids, yikes. Any suggestions on materials to use?
About 20 years ago, I made my daughter a mermaid costume, I bought some green shiny, almost metallic, horrible to sew with, fabric at Joann’s (before they had 40% off coupons!). For the bottom, I sewed a tube, leaving room for her to walk. The tail (stuffed with poyfill) extended out in back. For the top, I stenciled or hand painted, cannot remember which, shells where the “bra” would be on a pink sweatshirt. Aside from the inappropriateness of a child wearing a real mermaid top, it’s too cold in Maine.
LOL, I bet it is cold.
I was dreading it and thought I’d have to buy some scaly sequins. Now that I’m 1week away we’ll just settle on the dressup box.
Thanks so much, I’m glad to have the ideas. Who knows, they may want to be mermaids for their birthdays .)
Little House on the Prairie?
I think Angry Birds :)
I think it’s the Chiquita Bannana lady
It looks really sweet and cheerfull and like something with wings…
Soooooooo curious! Don`t make me wait so long.
Greetings from gemany
Apparently I am old. I immediately thought Rainbow Brite. lol (which my 7yo LOVES, thank you Netflix- especially since I had to talk her out of being Jem. lol) Regardless, I can’t wait to see what you have come up with!
hmmmm. Tangled. I would LOVE to see that! not sure if those are the right colors but a girl can wish right? ha. We are going as a super easy cat and dog this year. Already had the costumes made for “pretend play”.
I think it’s Peter Pan and Wendy with Tinker Bell maybe?
