Why I’m Terribly Happy Today

Sometimes I have a bad day.
And sometimes I feel like nothing is going right.
And if I remember to do so, I make a list.  The biggest list my awful cranky hands can scribble down……..of all the things that are good in my life.
And without fail, every time, those words make their way up into my consciousness, erase the ick, and allow my whole little self to see what a beautiful day it is.
Tricky little list.
And even though I’m not having a bad day today, it’s Thanksgiving (well, in the U.S.), and I’m going to sit down a write a lengthy list later on today.  And add every last bit of good in my life to it.
Some of those things on my list would be:
  • unsolicited kindness
  • freshly bathed babies
  • a clean kitchen
  • tight, tight hugs
  • baked goods right out of the oven
  • morning toddler kisses
  • belly laughs with friends
  • the excited squeal, “mommyyyyyyyyy!”
  • phone calls from family
  • fresh flowers
  • a husband who dares love me
  • unforeseen opportunities
  • egg nog
And you know, on that list, jotted down in many places, would be you, you, you, and you.
Yep, you read that right.  I know, I wonder all of the time how I can adore and appreciate random people who I have never met.  But it just happens.  And I really do receive some of the most heartfelt comments and emails, some of the best support, some of the funniest messages……….that all come at the right time.
Makes me want to share Thanksgiving dinner with all of you.  (As long as you bring over pie.  Well, maybe two.  Because my dream Thanksgiving would be a 7 course, pie-tasting meal.  Oh, yum.)
Maybe we could all meet up sometime?
I really would love it.
Enjoy your day.
And test out that list thing, it will trick you too.

Happy Thanksgiving!
