Sweet Little Combo…
I had a lot of fun making a tiny little baby gift for a friend. I forgot how much I enjoy making little itty bitty girl clothes.
My little lady is not so itty bitty anymore.
But I put together a sweet little outfit, perfect for your own little girl………or to gift to someone else.
I just used the Abigail Bootie pattern from my shop here. And then used the same concept as the Lily skirt pattern, also in my shop……but just shrunk the dimensions to fit a tiny little girl.
For the top, I cut out a rectangle of cotton that was as wide as I wanted, and about twice as long as I wanted the finished ruffle to be. Before cutting, I also added a 1/2 inch to all sides, for a seam allowance. I folded under each side a 1/4 inch and then another 1/4 inch and sewed it into place. Then I did the same with the top and the bottom. Then I placed a basting stitch (big stitch), without back-stitching, down the center of the rectangle. Then I pulled the top thread at one end and ruffled the fabric until the desired size. Then I pinned it to the onesie and sewed into place with 3 different parallel stitches. (To see some gathering in action, click here.)
And that’s it.
You can just make the onesie and use a different skirt pattern to match….or if you have the Lily skirt pattern, adapt it to fit a little girl. Or just make several little onesie’s to use with whatever pants or skirts the child already has.
Turns into a fun little project.

Cute! I love the red touches with the black and white.

SOOOO cute! I cant wait for my little girl to get here in May so I can makes cute things like that. You are such an inspiration :)
Very nice! I especially love the shoes. I've got to try and make a pair… Everything you make is always so cute!
I've been thinking about buying the bootie pattern but wondering…on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being lots of very intricate steps) how hard (really) are they to make? I'm sure you're a seasoned professional now, but about how long should I expect to spend making just one pair? Thanks!
LOVING this! So cute and so simple! love the skirt especially.
Love it! I already sent the shoes to a friend, I wish I would have seen this post first and I would have sent the outfit too. Maybe that will come later.
Ohhh, the little boots are so cuuuuute!

que bonitos!!!!!! me fascinan tus zapatitos de bebés, la combinación tan acertada de telas y colores que haces. Eres una verdadera fuente de inspiración. Gracias Ashley
Oh so cute!! I've got to get more crafty! You are amazing. I would love an outfit like that for my little girl especially since she's 6 months and is running out of clothes from my baby shower and hand-me-downs (people always seem to buy up to 3 months only). Guess I better bust out the sewing machine and learn, if i ever want to make something like that.

Where did you find the adorable fabric for the skirt?

That fabric is Michael Miller Zesty Zinnia. Hope that helps!
