Table Cover Tent

Got Kids?!?!

We all know how messy they are. To clean up after every single morsel, crumb, smear, or splat after every single meal, snack, or art project…..would make me crazy. You? I decided a few months ago to cover my table with some of this.

What is this stuff?

Clear Vinyl Covering

I bought it at Wal-Mart and I’m sure it’s at any fabric store.

And I also took a square of it and covered the chair that Elli’s booster seat sits on. Keeps it nice and clean.

And after visiting my sister for the holidays, I remembered she did this with her table. But she also puts a table cloth under the vinyl. Gives you the look of a table cloth without washing it after every meal. All you need to do is wipe the vinyl and things are sparkly again. Perfect.

So glad you found the site Laura. Good luck with all of your projects……..make that sewing machine purr!

I actually don’t offer a tutorial for the shoes. I am only selling the shoes through etsy. Enjoy creating!

I actually heard that the vinyl isn’t great for the wood, as it traps moisture? I imagine using the tablecloth between would eliminate that. I opted for a glass tabletop, just called the auto glass place and ordered a piece of glass cut to my tables measurements. I don’t know if this is any better for the wood, and either way I think it’s a great way to dress up the table, protect it from tantrums and toys, and make it easier to clean up!!

So it is probably pretty straight forward BUT, do you know how to do flannel boards? I want to do one for Nursery and one for home (and I would love a good way to get the church issue cut-outs to stick without putting more flannel on the back…make sense? I guess I’m pretty picky!)Might make a good tutorial…thanks!

A friend of mine (Janine) clued me in to your blog – I love it!

Another idea for the plastic covering – eventually, when the kiddos get older and have spelling lists, homework, maps, etc, you can slide the papers underneath the plastic and during meals or snacks, they can study! Thanks for all of your great ideas!

I am so enjoying your blog. I sew little bits of elastic on the corners of my vinyl so that it works like a shower cap for the table. I had a kid who would pull the whole dang thing down!
